Feeling stuck? At a crossroads in your career or emotional life? As a Qualified Counselling Professional, I can help you understand and manage whatever life throws at you. I believe that you have the strength not just to survive, but to truly thrive.

'Am I living in a way which is deeply satisfying to me, and which truly expresses me?' Carl Rogers. (Person Centred Approach)

About Counselling

Therapy offers a place of safety where you can share your deepest thoughts with a trained professional. I will help you to explore your feelings, your thoughts and your behaviours with compassion.

There may be old patterns that served you once, but are no longer effective, as well as possible relationship issues that need attention and care. In my experience, everyone can face difficulties in their lives; too often people suffer in silence, stay stuck or feel generally hopeless. When faced with the right environment, our difficulties can become a source of change and growth creating different outcomes and possibilities.

I endeavour to not give opinions or judgements, but I will guide you through your journey and be with you through the ups and downs that may arise, and help you to make sense of those occurrences, offering you an empathic, listening ear in a safe environment and completely at your pace.

Our therapeutic relationship will grow as you bravely let me into your world, and I will honour that privilege by helping you create a new toolbox of coping skills and guiding you to make effective changes to your life, thus becoming a newer version of you. This is the aim of counselling.

Who am I and what can I offer?

IMG-20190113-WA0007_edited.jpg

Let me introduce myself. I am Kerry, local to Wiltshire. Working as a Qualified Integrative Counsellor, working with adults, and young people. I take account of the whole person, emotional, physical and mental. I am trained in many theoretical approaches and a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. (MBACP). I work with a range of issues including trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety and relationship issues. I am also a certified mental health first aider and a trauma informed practitioner. I am also a holder of a level 2 neuroscience in early years, which helps me to understand how your nervous system and brain works, alongside a understanding of polyvagal theory. I have partaken in personal therapy also, and this allows me to know what it feels like to be in that chair. I recognise those feelings of vulnerability and fear (to name a few), but also the feeling of growth and change the therapy can bring.

I can offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space where you can come for an allocated hour, just for you, to work on anything that seems to be troubling you. I will listen intuitively and with empathy to anything you would like to share with me. Together, I hope to help you find new ways of coping and for you to have a better understanding and clarity of yourself and others, whilst I use a variety of techniques catered to your unique self.

I am a warm, caring and friendly counsellor and I believe each person is unique and that we all have our own answers to our own problems, we can just get a little lost sometimes.

What next?.....

An initial assessment session is important. This will be online through Microsoft teams or google meet, for a free 30 minutes, so we can meet and get to know each-other. It is this shorter session that we will see our potential and our fit. In this first meet, I will hear what has brought you here and what you would like out of the therapy sessions and your expectations from counselling. You will have the chance to ask questions about me, or how I work. This first short session will be 30 minutes and not charged.

If we decide we would like to continue we will make an agreement where we meet weekly, same time, same place and this will be your slot, suited to you and my availability. From this first meet, there is chance for me to have an idea of how we can work together. Being trained in a range of Humanistic and integrative therapies I can cater to each unique person.

*All sessions are respected, private and confidential.

How will it work? What do I do as an integrative counsellor?

An Integrative therapist can use many therapies, perspectives and interventions, but your focus is not on what therapy I use, it is on what is presented to me about you and what you need. Rather than specializing in one traditional approach, I seek to combine aspects of different approaches to provide the most effective way of working. My attunement to you is the most important aspect to create a way that works in the most compatible and safe way for the individual that you are, whilst building our therapeutic relationship with trust and honour.

“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul.” (Carl Jung,1875-1961)

Person Centred Approach...

This approach places value on establishing a warm and empathic relationship between us. I help you understand how certain patterns and problems are present in your life, open up your thinking and possibilities to manage situations in a healthier way. It is based on the idea that you have your own resources to come up with your own solutions in a supportive environment and you are able to reach your maximum potential. You are the expert of you!

Psychodynamic ...

Identifies unconscious thought patterns that come from significant past experiences you had in your life, especially from your childhood, and are now getting in your way of moving forwards in some way. I will guide you in how to stop repeating the same old behaviours that once seemed helpful but are no longer serving you in your current stage of life.

Attachment Theory...

Focussing on the learned relationships and bonds we made and formed with our caregivers in the early years and how those may have impacted our relationships since. A belief that our early relationships moulded our relationships in our future. How do we relate in the present?

Psychoeducation...

Is a way of giving clients a better understanding of the mind-body connection, and how this can manifest in an array of symptoms. Bringing the client’s awareness to the physical symptoms and the connection with mind. The client can gain more power over their responses and reactions when they know how and why reactions occur.

Gestalt...

Gestalt helps clients to focus on their immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour and to have a better understanding of the way they relate to others. Noticing your unconscious thought patterns and feelings so you can become more aware of how you behave and interact with others. You will learn how to become more tuned in your bodily sensations and emotions.

Transactional Analysis...

Exploring with you, your personality and how it has been influenced by significant experiences in your life. T.A stems from the idea that our personality is a combination of 3 different ego states that influence how we think and react towards certain situations: Our parent state (this aspect of our personality can be critical or nurturing and comes from things we learned from our parents and other significant people in our life), our adult state (the rational part of our personality rooted in the present), and our child state (the free, rebellious or adaptive part of our personality).

Regular supervision

is an ethical responsibility and professional requirement, as it protects you, the client, whilst allowing a safe space for your therapist to explore confidentially the work you do together. Respecting at all times ethical boundaries agreed upon with you when you contracted for the sessions.

 Fees, cancellations and no shows.

Counselling is at its best, weekly. This is for progression, consistency, your commitment and effectiveness.
These sessions are an hour in length and at the same time and place every week. We will try our best to maintain this, but will also be mindful of life circumstances, that sometimes get in our way.

I charge £50 per hour, each session, but offer a reduced fee for students, and those in financial hardship. This is something we can negotiate together before our first assessment. The first assessment is 30 minutes online, no charge.

I operate a pre-payment system within my practice, to minimise last minute cancellations.

I require payment in advance via bank transfer on confirmation of your wish to attend.

For following sessions, payment will need to be made prior to your session time, usually before or during the session being attended.
Payment can be made by bank transfer.

No shows and cancellations/Lateness/ Too early or ending a session early.

If you cannot attend a scheduled session due to illness or other personal circumstances, I require a 24 hours notice of cancellation, as the timeslots that are allocated to you cannot easily be assigned to another client at short notice. In the event of a cancellation, I will try to reschedule your appointment for a later day within the same week, or at the weekend. I fully understand that illness or life circumstances, can not be timed, or chosen, for any of us, so will do my best in that knowledge. If a mutually agreed alternative cannot be found, I charge our agreed fee in full. All non-attendances with less than a 24 hours notice will also be charged. Scheduled breaks such as holidays will not be charged for if prebooked.   Should I need to cancel a session due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, I will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible, and I will offer you an alternative appointment within the same week or at the weekend. If a mutually convenient appointment cannot be agreed, your session fee will be put towards a later session or refunded if necessary. Should you arrive late for a session or decide to end a session before the scheduled time, my standard fee remains applicable. Too early. I cannot guarantee I would be ready to see you as previous clients may be with me, and entry is not available until I collect you. I advise that you are no earlier than 5 minutes, unless agreed otherwise. This also protects you from bumping into anyone else in the vicinity, keeping your confidentiality.
